This summer, the Grimaldi Forum shows the exhibition called “Monaco fête Picasso”, a tribute paid to the anniversary of this artist recognized worldwide. It has been billed as one of the most spectacular Picasso exhibitions in history, with more than 160 works – some rarely seen – on display to mark the 40th anniversary of the master’s death.

The Grimaldi Forum Monaco wants to offer an original insight into his artistic productionrevealing, not only the close links he had with the Cote d’Azur, but also an exceptional selectionof works from a remarkable private collection. Picasso in the Nahmad Collection is an amazing gathering of quiet unique art that was collected by two generations of of Nahmads from 1960s.

There are two major themes exhibited.

“Picasso Côte d’Azur” will attract visitors to Antibes-Juan les Pins, Golfe Juan, Mougins and Cannes, a region that appealed so much to Pablo Picasso, who spent many summers there between 1920 and 1946, where the Mediterranean light, the sea and the coast were a directly inspiring him.

“Picasso in the Nahmad Collection“ highlights masterpieces by the artist that form a major share of a private collection, unique in the world for its depth and quality, which has been assembled by Ezra and David Nahmad over the past half century.
